Adjustable Variable Speed Transmissions and variators feature a metal PIV (Positively Infinitely Variable) chain that positively engages grooves in conical wheels, providing a drive that does not slip. These PIV chain drive transmissions are used in printing presses, textile machinery, paper converting, and packaging equipment, among other applications.

The CUBIC® Differential Planetary Gear Transmissions offer the advantage of precision register control or any in-motion timing adjustment in a compact housing. The CUBIC® is available with torque capacities of 500 to 10000 in lb and are often used in conveyor drives, printing presses, paper and web machinery, plastic film machinery and packaging applications.

The Phase Shifting Worm Gear Differential Transmission is designed for phase shifting, register control or any in-motion timing adjustment and is capable of providing true line shaft phase shifting capability. These Phase Shifting Worm Gear Differential Transmissions are used in printing presses, paper machinery, film processing, paper cut off, synthetic fiber manufacturing, alternator drives, textile machinery, metering pumps and other industrial applications.

For unique applications, Fairchild combines the PIV chain variator transmission concept with a mechanical differential draw mechanism to provide smooth durable operation in an infinitely adjustable transmission unit. These units are designed for applications such as alternator drives, metering pumps, textile machinery, printing presses and in pulp and paper production.
